Desperately Lonely Heart Deceived by Online Deceit

A new report reveals a romance scam with a fake casino and losses of almost $400,000. A vulnerable woman, during a collapsing marriage, met an online younger man who said he worked in IT. He got her to make bets through a “glitch” in a casino system because of time zones.

Deposits, Bonuses, and a Fake Casino Site

The scammers gradually gained her trust and persuaded her to deposit both cryptocurrency (USDT) and cash through ATMs. A bogus betting website even provided deposit bonuses to entice bigger investments. Later, the website stated her money was “frozen” and asked her to pay additional money for supposed taxes before she could withdraw.

Scammer’s Excuses Keep Hope Alive

In spite of increasing red flags, the woman still remains convinced by the scammer, citing the constant talking as evidence of genuineness. The fictitious “underground” casino website probably was established before communication started.

A Cautionary Tale

It’s important for loved ones to step in at the first sign of trouble. If you see someone you care about facing a similar challenge, don’t hesitate to speak up—act before it’s too late.
